MVCAC's 2021 Paint By Tunnels Mural ProjectThe Maple Valley Creative Arts Council is pleased to present its SECOND community mural project!
Partnering with the City of Maple Valley, King County Parks & Recreation Department, the Maple Valley Historical Society, The Maple Valley Community Center, and the Lake Wilderness Arboretum Foundation, the Maple Valley Creative Arts Council (MVCAC) will make local and regional history stories interactive and publicly available through a community participatory event. The 2021 project, led by Brenda Chrystie, will consist of a new mural by Maple Valley resident and artist Jackie Riedel. Inspired by Maple Valley’s History, the new mural will be located in the tunnel on the Cedar to Green Rivers Trail under Witte Road, near the Maple Valley Community Center, Historical Society, and Library. We know that history takes on incredible significance when framed within hands-on interactive experiences. A mandatory Paint By Tunnel design component will be paint-by-numbers areas to facilitate public participation during the one-day community event. The community event will be held on August 28-29, 2021. CLICK HERE FOR INFORMATION AND TO SIGNUP TO VOLUNTEER. |
